History of outsourcing in Poland and around the world
- Knowledge base
Outsourcing is most often associated with lower costs than hiring an employee yourself within the company's structures. Using the support of external partners also eliminates the expense of training new staff. Outsourcing also guarantees a high degree of flexibility, allowing the company to respond quickly to changing market needs - its many advantages translate into the popularity of outsourcing solutions. In today's post, we will briefly discuss the history of outsourcing in Poland and around the world, and consider what its immediate future will look like.
History of the origins of outsourcing
The origins of outsourcing date back to the early 20th century - it was then that the use of external support for activities that a company could not or did not want to perform internally began to popularize. However, it is believed that simple forms of outsourcing were used much earlier.
The term itself, on the other hand, was not formulated until the 1970s in the context of the UK automotive industry buying vehicle designs from Germany. The last century was a period of intensive development of outsourcing services, which, incidentally, continues to this day.

History of outsourcing in Poland
Outsourcing abroad developed much earlier than in Poland, which is quite understandable given the historical and political conditions. Our country had a communist regime until the 1980s, and outsourcing solutions are characteristic of a free market economy. The outsourcing market in Poland began its activity after the fall of communism, in the 1990s, but its intensive development is only in the following decades.
Initially, the areas of outsourcing in Poland focused primarily on sectors such as accounting, cleaning services and gardening. Today, however, outsourcing is counted among the fastest-growing branches of the Polish economy. It is developing especially in sectors such as IT and outsourcing sales.
Outsourcing - the future
The future of outsourcing in Poland looks very positive, as evidenced by the steadily growing number of companies engaged in providing business services. Interestingly, our country is also attractive to foreign investors - perfectly educated specialists, good technological facilities and competitive prices mean that more and more establishments specializing in providing business services are located in Poland. Poland is especially leading in outsourcing of IT, accounting and finance and bookkeeping services.
